Autism Therapy and Parkinsons Therapy

AUTISM THERAPY AND PARKINSONS THERAPY

AUTISM SPECTRUM

Westchester Boxing Club understands the power and therapeutic value in the sport and practice of boxing. We have many years of experience working with both adults and children placed on the autism spectrum. We work on developing socialization, focus, and organization skills, through the sport of boxing. Our private sessions offer a great environment that encourages children to communicate with trainers and make progress in the activities they participate in. The fact is that Autism Therapy works

POWER OF POSITIVE

Positive reinforcement in an engaging and supportive environment help and the use of visual supports to supplement auditory learning. This is a no contact program and we have seen great results over the years with all those we have worked with. Each class starts with a 5 to 10 minute warm-up session to get the body loose and the heart pumping. Stretching, jumping jacks, push-ups, squats, jogging in place. We promote physical fitness and teach discipline through the sport of boxing. In addition we use core punching techniques, including the six basic punches; proper body mechanics using focus mitts, sequencing rhythm and focus. Utilizing proper boxing technique; body awareness and coordination techniques are helpful. All these help autism therapy be more effective

BUILDING CONFIDENCE

Our sessions improve your child's confidence and their overall mental well-being. Extreme focus through use of professional boxing equipment and coordinated drills help as well. This provide alternate channels of relieving stress, anger and aggression

PARKINSONS

We have had great success over the years working with those affected by Parkinsons disease. Our goal is to help improve the quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s disease. We provide support, intense exercise programs, and education to encourage proactivity and a positive shift in perspective towards the future. To ensure safety, our coaches are CPR and first aid certified.

We are learning every day that there are ways in which people with Parkinson’s disease can enhance their quality of life and even build coordination, flexibility and confidence. By exercising with our trainers who are experienced in helping people who are affected by Parkinsons, our clients have found great improvement in their movement and facilities. These sessions have proven that anyone, at any level of Parkinson’s, can actually lessen their symptoms and lead a healthier and happier life.

PARKINSONS THERAPY

Boxers condition for optimal agility, speed, muscular endurance, accuracy, balance, hand-eye coordination, footwork and overall strength to defend against and overcome opponents. All of these things help our clients in their battle with Parkinsons disease.

Parkinson’s causes a loss in many of the same elements that boxers condition to improve. Medical research has shown that forced, intense exercise can reduce, reverse and delay Parkinson’s symptoms. We also have a balanced program of exercise that benefits in innumerous ways both physical and mental.

Comparing boxing and other sports, boxing is the best overall strengthening and coordination training, but as well, there is the discipline factor and not to mention the fulfillment that is achieved with each session. Come in and speak with Nick about our approach toward helping improve the lives of people who live with Parkinsons.
